As for its name? In the Amazonian forests where we harvest our açai, there lives a tiny hummingbird called the Amethyst Woodstar. One of the lightest birds in the world, it’s amethyst breast plumage reflects the colour of Woodstar. It represents for us the very essence of freedom and enjoyment that we craft into every bottle. Growing wild in the Amazonian forest and naturally high in anti-oxidants, our açai berries are carefully harvested and skilfully macerated in alcohol for twelve weeks to release all of their colour and flavour. In France, Gilles our Master Liquoriste then blends this infusion with blackcurrants, blueberries, cocoa extract and just enough je ne sais quoi to create something totally unique: A delicious drink that’s just 1% ABV.
The bouquet is complex. Immediately you are transported to a delicatessen in the south of Italy. There are aromas of boxes full of fresh plums, of berries: red, blue and black; green olives and fresh herbs: thyme, basil and bay hanging above the fruit. Some orange blossom is in the background with a little intriguing cocoa powder. And it tastes…of berries, orange rind, Seville marmalade and cranberries. There’s plenty of blackcurrant, and raspberry fruit; some orange zest and a touch of cocoa powder again. It’s dry but with lots of tangy fruit and a faint suggestion of spice like cloves. Then those light grassy tannins give it a sophisticated dryness to finish.
