Distilled from fermented molasses by Angostura in Trinidad, this aged light rum is charcoal filtered to soften and remove colour from oak ageing.

The rum is aged for 2 years and charcoal-filtered to remove color and impurities. The bouquet is pretty mellow, with a touch of sweetness and fruitiness, but nothing really dominates. It’s a simple, well-rounded aroma. An initial sip shows that it has surprisingly little burn, some sweetness and fruitiness on the finish.

Clean and light on the bouquet, with a slight sweetness roaming around. Very smooth on the palate with light vanilla flavours coming through, and hints of citrus on the finish.

Planas is the replacement for Diplomatico Blanco. It is made the same as the Blanco expression. Due to Venezuelan law, rum cannot be bottled until it is as least two years old.

The rum is clean-tasting but quite hot, with a good bit of burn on the finish. The aroma offers wood and a little smoke, and the body is only minimally sweet with the aforementioned characteristics as secondary notes. If you’re a fan of simple rums without overwhelming sweetness — but which are nonetheless perfectly palatable on their own.

Mineral with tropical fruit and pineapple. Strong notes of coconut, probably from the American oak casks this was aged in, with faint toffee/fudge note and white peppery spice. Lingering white pepper and coconut on the finish.
