Owned by Francis Abécassis, ABK6 is a young cognac house based at the Domaine de Chez Maillard near the village of Claix. Its 250 hectares of vineyards produce high quality eaux-de-vie, which are used to blend this contemporary cognac. The goal of this label is to introduce a young and modern spirit to the traditional drink and at the same time value the quality. Not only its name, an abbreviation of the owner’s name. ABK6’s domain, sits in the heart of its 90 hectares of vineyards on an exceptional chalky hilltop location. The father and daughter that run this house proudly make exclusively single estate cognac which is grown, distilled, aged, blended and bottled at here.
The bouquet is fruity, delicate, elegant and is bold and rich at the same time. One finds notes of apricot, fruit in syrup and mango slightly more associated with little notes of cedar and flowers / rose. The palate is elegant, delicious, sweet, oily, meaty and smooth. It expresses Cognac pear notes of ripe peach and lychee slightly more associated with a hint of honey, ripe quince, caramel and sweet spice. Good length on the finish.
