Catherine Marshall completed a viticultural degree at Elsenberg Agricultural College in 1991 and then worked at several well known cellars in the Cape and internationally. Her international work experience took her to Sonoma and Oregon in the USA, Bordeaux and Burgundy in France and also to Australia. She held several full time winemaker positions in the Cape before starting her own operation. The inspiration to go solo came from three barrels of Syrah that were crushed by foot and turned out to be delicious. Catherine Marshall has made her base in Elgin, most of her wines come from vineyards in the Elgin Valley. When we started on our wine journey from humble origins in 1997, we have always held the view that our intention is to produce a range of unique wines of excellence and, above all, to have fun doing it. As custodians of such an ancient craft, a balanced, holistic, creative and respectful approach reflects harmony and character in our wines.
Bright, fresh sweet melon and white peach top notes with fleshy ripe nectarines on the core and crisp green apple acidity. Intense aromas and flavours of peach, pear and pineapple with a beautifully rich palate, depth and complexity to the wet granite stone and a wonderful freshness. The finish is long and mineral.
