Product Description
Still in family hands since it was founded, the Glenfarclas Distillery is one of Speyside’s independent whisky producers. The Grant family have been running Glenfarclas since 1860, producing an individual Speyside malt that many whisky enthusiasts number as one of their favourites. The water source is melt water from the slopes of Ben Rinnes which runs through granite and heather before reaching Glenfarclas (meaning ‘the valley of green grass’). With a long history of bottlings stretching back to the early 20th Century, both proprietary and independent, Glenfarclas is keenly collected. Creating a great malt whisky is a time-honoured process. Here in the heart of Speyside, Glenfarclas has cherished the skills and traditions of fine malt whisky making for over 165 years, handing them down through six generations.
A dark amber-bronze colour. Full-bodied Glenfarclas, very deep and mature, complex fruit, sultanas and marmalade. A strong powerful Glenfarclas, I believe it is the strongest we have ever released at this age. The aromas are intense with rich tones of honey, vanilla, liquorice, cinnamon, raisins, and a hint of peat smoke. This whisky has many layers to delve through. It is like a layered cake with fruit on top, honey caramel and toffee in the middle, with dry oaky spiciness and a slightly smoky finish.
