The Gunderloch estate is located in the small village of Nackenheim. This town is situated on the banks of the River Rhine at the foot of the Rothenberg. Our winery is located since its foundation in 1890 by Carl Gunderloch family owned and is currently 5th in Agnes and Fritz Hasselbach of the Generation farms. The long family tradition in our vineyard has shown that the cohesion of the family and the sharing of experience and knowledge in all generations, the foundation for the success of the winery Gunderloch forms. Of course, it is important to create a knowledge base and also to expand my knowledge horizon abroad in order to produce high quality wines. Here in our region are making unique experience and the little tips that are passed down from grandfather to son / daughter, grandson / in that it allows us, our delicate wines of the highest quality. In our estate at the time, once again two generations working together, the 5th and the 6th Generation. Today, Gunderloch’s name lives on not only in the estate, but also in the name of the square where the Gunderloch offices are situated. And the Nackenheim Rothenberg vineyard remains the one perhaps most readily associated with the estate today.
This has a lovely floral nose, magnolia and roses, toffee, and the tiniest hint of petrol. On the palate it is off-dry, with very subtle creamy citrus, more key lime pie than key lime, moving toward apple on the mid-palate, all lightly-honeyed, with an acid background and bright citrus tartness around the edges. From start to finish a sweet nuttiness lingers very lightly under all the other flavors. The floral accents come alive again on the finish.
