In 1985 after ten years abroad Karl Heinz Johner and his wife Irene founded a little Weingut (vineyard & winery) in their home village “Bischoffingen” in the Kaiserstuhl. His focus was on the Burgundian styles – wines full of structure and pure elegance. Despite having to overcome problems relating to winemaking in the Kaiserstuhl and German wine laws the young Weingut soon established himself as a pioneer of a new German winestyle recognised as being of an International class. Today “Weingut Karl H Johner” is considered one of the best Estates in Germany and is recognised amongst most wine experts.
The beautiful fragrance of cherries, highlighted with beautiful subtle vanilla flavor and good oak. Typical for the vintage, the wine is fresh and young. Accessible round tannins. Elegant finish with recurrent aromas of dark fruits.
