Product Description
Jeremy and Emma Borg founded Painted Wolf Wines to create unique wines from a small number of growers in some of South Africa’s prime sites, including Paarl, Swartland and Stellenbosch – low-yielding areas which are mostly unirrigated and farmed organically or with minimal organic outputs. They called their company Painted Wolf, after the endangered African Wild Dog. The Painted Wolf ‘pack’ is their community of talented individuals who bring the best available grapes, technical and practical skills, resulting a range of delicious, authentic and satisfying wines. A donation from each bottle sold goes to African wild dog research and conservation. We also raise money and awareness through pedals4 paws- our cycle adventure initiative – Like African Painted Wolves and their namesake wines, follow our mantras “remarkably persistent, persistently remarkable”, but also helps to alleviate poverty through sustainable development and education amongst rural communities which live alongside wildlife.
Dark fruit aromas of blackberry, plum and raspberry lead the bouquet of this clean yet ripe Pinotage, with supporting notes of curing spice, toasted oak and mocha that lend decadence. The slightly plush mouthfeel has a texture like crushed velvet, with mildly gripping tannins and flavors of black-fruit skin and licorice root that carry through to the finish.
