Product Description
The Stratus winery, like our signature assemblage wines, is a composition – a whole greater than the sum of its parts. On their own, the individual elements are distinctly unique – a diversely planted vineyard with unusually rich soil; a sustainable facility that unites tradition and science to serve the winemaker’s art; and a retail gallery with adjoining tasting rooms that are both chic and welcoming. Working together, they create wines and experiences that are truly memorable. Stratus Vineyards sits on 62 acres near the southeastern border of the Niagara Lakeshore sub-appellation. It shares the benefits of the region with its neighbours, while enjoying advantages that are uniquely its own. Sun. Site. Soil. Grapes. People to tend and harvest. A place to make wine. Simple. At Stratus, these elements transform into complex, age-worthy wines – expressions of time, of place, and of the essence of our vineyard that are simply extraordinary.
French oak, the resultant wine brings aromatics of dark cherries, mocha, black plum, with hints of graphite and cigar box spice. The full and expressive palate is one of luscious black fruit with a serious depth of flavour. This intense and ripe fruit core is supported by chocolate-like tannins and assertive acidity, leading to a rewardingly savoury and sustained finish.
