The climate of north-eastern Tasmania is certainly cool with many similarities to some of the great winemaking regions of Europe. The Tamar Ridge vineyard was established by Josef Chromy in 1994 when a decision to establish a vineyard in the West Tamar region was made. In its first two years in the market, Tamar Ridge Wines have made some major strides in establishing its reputation as a producer of premium wines. A string of wine show successes and glowing reviews from the Australian wine media provide ample reinforcement that the winemaking team are getting it right.
Bright, mid straw in colour. An intriguing array of aromas with apricots, marmalade, pineapple and hints of tropical fruits alongside just a hint of VA that gives additional lift and interest. A luscious, mouth-filling wine with great viscosity and intense flavours of pineapple and marmalade. This obvious sweetness is balanced by fresh acidity that prevents the wine from being cloying and helps give length to the palate.
