The Brut Tradition Grand Cru is superb and also a terrific introduction to the house style. Creamy and layered, with lovely aromatic nuances. The Tradition captures the generosity and resonance that is such a signature of the Egly-Ouriet Champagne house.
-
Egly-Ouriet crafts one of Champagne’s most flattering single-vineyard Pinot Meuniers, faithfully translating every detail of the succulent depth of this grape’s enticing full golden yellow hue and its fleshy Mirabelle plum, red cherry, dried pear and grapefruit character.

The V.P. Grand Cru (Vieillissement Prolongé) is a rich, textured Champagne that expresses all of the natural intensity gained after having spent eight years on its lees. The bouquet shows baked apple tart, pastry, spice, chamomile and lightly honeyed notes infuse the V.P. with tremendous flavor complexity to fill out its broad, expansive frame. It is a wine of remarkable depth and vinous intensity.

Fine and persistent bubbles. Delicate, fresh bouquet of great complexity. The palate is fresh and supple at the same time. The freshness of green apple is expressed at the start of the palate with notes of white flowers and hazelnut. Nice balance and good persistence on a crisp finish.

Pale gold, great clarity and tiny bubbles. Aromas of fresh melon, Meyer melon, brioche, sweet pea flowers and vanilla followed by fresh apricot and peach flavours on the palate, these flavours continue long on the finish.

Great structure and savoury detail. The bouquet shows it is quite citrus driven, with lemons and a touch of grapefruit pith. The palate has some mineral detail and a stony edge to the concentrated fruit. This is serious stuff, covering the full spectrum of flavour and showing vibrant acidity on a crisp fresh finish.
-
A touch of butter, then very fine taut Chardonnay notes that open into a vinous and pure expression of Mesnil minerality. This is very pure and focused, but with a sense of supple fruit behind the stones. Ample yet focused on the finish.
-
This well-cut version is defined by vibrant acidity and rich minerality, yet there’s a sense of finesse to the integration of this elegant Champagne. The palate shows white peach, slivered almond, pastry and candied pink grapefruit zest are lasting and focused on the creamy mousse and lingering finish.
-
Complex and intense, full of finesse and elegance. Pastry notes of brioche and toasted almonds blend subtly with aromas of honey and figs while bringing out some flowery notes. The palate confirms this exceptional bouquet, silky then becomes generous and lovely. The finale is endless…
-
Full-bodied, pretty rich but pure and dry, this is a remarkable if not great Blanc de Blancs full of tension, grip and character. The finish is reveals a firm structure, pure minerality and great length on the finish. This is an outstanding Blanc de Blancs.
-
A very harmonious example, the savoury Pinot undertow of red fruit complemented by elegant Chardonnay with a floral overtone to the flavors of honeycrisp apple, biscuit and lemon meringue. The lively bead carries ground ginger and anise notes on the lingering, creamy finish.
-
This vintage brut shows aromas of citrus, pears, honey and toast, whilst the palate is lighter, fruity and a touch sweet with crunchy acidity, lots of fine bubbles, and a refreshing finish.
-
What's this, guv'nor – a sparkling from England! This one has more red fruits like strawberries and cranberries on the bouquet, with sniffs of baked bread. The palate is medium-bodied with a bit of sweetness up front, slight marzipan flavours, bright acidity, and a smooth, creamy finish.
-
The Chalklands Classic Cuvée has a toasty, saline bouquet of citrus, honeysuckle, lemon and ripe yellow apple. The palate shows brioche, citrus and vibrant acidity with almond bitterness and a touch of ripe apple sweetness to balance. Persistent mousse adds an extra layer of texture on a crisp dry finish.
-
The bouquet is the epitome of quality Blanc de Noir, showing vanilla cream, freshly baked puff pastry, honey, peach. Just before the bouquet begins to run uncontrollably, fresh strawberries, apples and minerality hit the palate. On the back edge, you taste brioche and a slightly caramelized expression. The whole glory kept tight, dry, elegant and incomprehensibly precise on the finish.
