The nose is very subtle, slowly releasing hints of baked pears, ginger. After a few swirls the bouquet opens up and releases aromas of orange peel, and cinnamon. The palate is restrained and elegant, very much like a fine cognac, the alcohol is beautifully integrated and is balanced by flavours of toffee, oak, and vanilla. The silky finish is long and as it eventually fades leaves you with chocolatey notes.
-
Amber in color. Aromas of clay, rubber sole, and roasted coconut with a dry light-to-medium body and a roasted nut, mineral, cream, and pepper accented finish. A very nice, characterful, dry dark rum for sipping or mixing.
-
A golden rum that has a delicate and fruity bouquet with a hint of exotic spices – ginger, nutmeg and vanilla. This smooth, mild rum is easy on the palate. An ideal mixer, it adds complexity and excitement to any drink.
-
The rum is aged for 2 years and charcoal-filtered to remove color and impurities. The bouquet is pretty mellow, with a touch of sweetness and fruitiness, but nothing really dominates. It’s a simple, well-rounded aroma. An initial sip shows that it has surprisingly little burn, some sweetness and fruitiness on the finish.
-
The Estate Reserve Blend offers a sherried note up front, full of citrus and cloves, that winds its way slowly into bold vanilla and Christmas spice character. Deftly balanced between the sharp attack and the festive finish, it manages to keep a foot in both the rustic and refined worlds.
-
No age statement. The entry level Appleton is a bit rustic and punchy, with some sharp medicinal character to it. Clearly designed as a mixer, this nicely golden rum offers big molasses backed by barrel char notes and some burnt marshmallow. A touch of banana on the back end, but it does give this rum some funky character.
-
This full bodied medium-sweet rum boasts a warm golden colour, a rich aroma and an exceptionally smooth taste. Enjoy Appleton Estate V/X on the rocks, in sophisticated rum cocktails, blended long drinks or with your favourite mixer.
-
It includes two rum marques which are of particular sentimental significance to Appleton Estate’s master blender, Joy Spence: The first of these marques was laid down to age in 1981, which is the year I joined the Appleton Estate team, and the second is my favourite marque of pot still rum. The final blend is a wonderful rum that I hope will be become a cornerstone of my legacy….
